Taking your sample

First you prick your finger with a lancet

First prick your finger

Choose your middle or ring finger and clean it with the alcohol wipe. Use a lancet to prick your finger tip just off center. Then wipe away the first drop of blood using the sterile gauze.

Collect a few drops of blood on the VAMS devlce

Then collect your sample

Touch the tip of the sampler to the finger tip and hold it there until the tip is completely red. Repeat this a second time. If you need, you can collect a spare sample. Click the cartridge closed.

Mail the sample back to us in the provided mailer bag

Now label and package up the sample

Write your details on the label and stick over the Neoteryx label on the cartridge. Put the cartridge and desiccant in the sample bag and seal. Send to our lab using the prepaid label and mailer.

See your results

You will be notified as soon as your results are ready. The results are stored in our secure app. This also allows you to track your results over time. You can also choose to download a PDF version to share with your physician.

The sample is loaded into the mass spectrometer to detect the PFAS

Learn more

Everyone who buys a test can access our guide "Understanding Your PFAS Core Panel Result". This provides guidance on where PFAS compounds are used, routes of exposure, suggested safe levels of PFAS, and where to find out more.

FAQ: taking my sample

What do I do if anything is missing from my kit?

Lay out your test kit and check it against the list of contents before you begin. If anything is missing, please visit our support page or email us on support@relentlesshealth.com

Why do I need to wash my hands in warm water?

Washing your hands in warm water cleans them and also helps ensure good blood flow to the finger tips. This is important to make sure you can give a good sample.

What if there isn't enough blood?

You may need to massage your finger from the base to the tip to increase blood flow. If the blood stops, you can repeat the steps to prick another finger using a spare lancet. If this still doesn't work, warm your hands up again and then shake them in small circles at waist level. Now try pricking another finger.

Why do you provide a 4-tip sampler if you only need 2 samples?

We give you a 4-tip sampler so you have a chance to collect a spare sample if the first samples weren't good. A good sample should have the tip of the sampler filled with blood, but there shouldn't be any blood extending down the stick towards the cartridge. A bad sample is one where the tip isn't completely filled, or where there is blood further down the stick.

Do I need to fast before taking the test?

The accuracy of your test does not depend on whether you’ve fasted. You can take your sample at any time that is convenient for you.

Is the test painful?

Taking the Relentless Health test is very simple and typically painless. In order to get a few drops of blood, you do need to use the provided lancet to prick the tip of your finger. For some, this is completely painless, and for others, it might feel like a sting that goes away after a few seconds

Is the Relentless Health PFAS Core Panel available everywhere?

Relentless Health's toxin tests are available to be purchased and used by anyone in the United States, except for residents of the state of New York. This is due to New York's state regulations for lab testing. We hope to make our tests available in NY soon.
